Find one (1) or two (2) drawings by "Old Masters".
For the purposes of this homework, the definition of Old Master is expanded to include any well-known artist working from 1400 - 1912.
Make a photocopy of the work.
The easiest place to do this is at the library.

In class assignment for November 9th
Using your photocopy of the Old Master drawing, attempt to reproduce the image in your 14" x 17" sketchbook.
Use the same medium as the original artist, or as close as possible.
If you have chosen a painting, you can use pastels instead of paint.

A note on Thanksgiving week:
Class WILL meet on November 23rd, at the regular time.
I realize that this is the last possible class slot on the last day before the holiday break.
If you absolutely must miss class because of family obligations, you may make it up by making another copy of an Old Master drawing, using the same technique we will discuss in the November 9th class meeting. It must be a real drawing, with real effort, in which you spend a couple of hours focused on the project. If you want to be excused from class, you must demonstrate that you put in the full 2 1/2 hours over the break, AND the drawing is due at the beginning of class on November 30th. Late drawings will not be accepted!!!
Students who attend the regularly scheduled class on November 23rd will receive be seen as more dedicated and will learn more than those who do not.
