Volume, contours, cross contours

using a gel pen and a water flow brush



using the gel pen, work from the center of each object, draw the contour lines, follow the shape across the face of the object.

pay particular attention to line direction since they will lead the viewers eye across the page and individual objects, suggesting volume.

if you are stuck, I suggest picking objects which have obvious lines; apples, sea shells, etc.



Using the aqua glow brush, melt the gel pen ink and create shadows.
Remember to leave the lightest areas (highlights) mostly alone, since the more you draw over them, and the more you cross them with the brush, the darker they will get.
More ink, and more brushwork on the darker areas. Less ink and less brushwork on the lighter areas.
